Changelog

Every release of the desktop app, newest first. The app checks for a new version at launch, and installs one when you ask, or by itself if you turn on Update automatically.

0.2.17

  • Fixes 0.2.16, which did not open on a Mac. A Mac with 0.2.16 cannot update itself: download 0.2.17 from the download page once, and updates work again from there.

0.2.16

  • Words appear as you say them: a live take streams to the transcription engine instead of waiting for each pause.
  • No word is lost or repeated where one line ends and the next begins.
  • If the app crashes or quits during a take, the transcript is finished from the audio the next time you open it.
  • The microphone is open only while a take, voice activation or Check input is using it. Record never waits for sound: a silent input shows a warning, and the take keeps recording.
  • The window uses your system’s own title bar, and recent projects are in File → Open Recent.
  • Tidier menus in the menu bar and the tray.
  • Short, quiet words such as “yes” are no longer dropped.

0.2.15

  • Work offline: one switch stops every network call the app makes on its own. An IT team can set it for every user with a policy file.
  • Updates have their own tab in Settings.
  • Each transcription model has a short description in the picker, and the Parakeet models are marked experimental.
  • About links to the terms, the privacy policy and the security page.

0.2.14

  • Import WAV, MP3 and M4A recordings, voice memos included, as takes with a transcript.
  • Voice detection decides where one line ends and the next begins, so lines break where you pause.

0.2.13

  • Update from Settings. Turn on Update automatically, and a new version downloads in the background and installs when you quit.
  • A new app icon: a lime speech bubble with a voice in it.
  • Each hands-free shortcut says which keys it needs.

0.2.12

  • A redesigned window: your recordings, the take and the keyword library side by side, with the transport and the timecode in the top bar.

0.2.11

  • A Free account can sign in to the desktop app.

0.2.10

  • The app can update itself. Versions up to 0.2.9 could not: download this version once by hand, and later updates arrive in the app.

0.2.9

  • Start and stop a take by voice, with phrases you choose.
  • Global keys start, stop and mark a take, even with the window hidden.
  • Copy a transcript, with or without timestamps, or export it as plain text.

0.2.8

  • At launch, the app tells you when no transcription model is ready, and offers the download.
  • Check for updates from About, or turn the launch check off in Settings.
  • The window opens without waiting for the transcription engine.
  • A take’s keyword count stays right after its transcript changes.

0.2.7

  • Recordings are grouped by day, and each take shows its keyword hits.
  • Sign in from the account button.
  • The welcome page starts with New project and Open project.
  • Many small fixes to layout, tooltips and click targets.

0.2.6

  • The Mac app is signed and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without a warning.

0.2.4

  • The first Mac build. It was not signed, so macOS reports it as damaged: use 0.2.6 or later.

0.2.3

  • Fixes a crash when the installed app started.

0.2.2

  • No more trial: Free does not expire, and a Free take can be up to five minutes long.
  • The download page always links the current release.

0.2.1

  • The first release: record, transcribe on your own computer with no network, mark keywords, correct lines and export. Pro removes the Free limits.

The current release is on the download page.
